Summit Big S Pass Holder UPDATE - From Summit at Snoqualmie
Dear Big S Pass Holders,
First and foremost, I want to personally extend a huge thank you for hanging in there with us through this very challenging and frustrating weather pattern we've found ourselves in so far this winter. The amount of support and positive feedback you have given us has been immense.
I have been a Summit skier (and now snowboarder as well) for my entire life. No question, this winter has been right up there as one of the most challenging and disappointing. I lived through the 76-77 winter as a disappointed teenager with new skis not used until March. I lived through the 80-81 winter as a disappointed young ski instructor without skiers to teach. Finally and more recently, I patiently waited for the snows to come in the fall of 1989 and they never did. January of that year treated us well, however, and by late January we had an above average snowpack and great skiing the rest of the year! Fourteen feet of snow in two weeks! I dream every night of a "re-run" of that January, only let's call it February!
Looking forward this year, of course none of us know for sure what Mother Nature has in store. We are pleased that a number of the forecasters at this point are calling for real winter to start soon, with average or above average snowfall on the way. Looking back at the snowfall data from other years with poor starts, the trend has been strongly in favor of this happening.
Our staff at the Summit takes great pride in our ability to make the best out of difficult situations. Rest assured, we will do everything possible to get full operations back up and running as soon as we can. We are firm in our belief that Mother Nature will be kind in the coming months and bless us with a large amount of snow.
We do of course recognize at this point that the number of skiing days available to you has been less than expected. It is certainly our desire to keep you as a dedicated Summit skier or rider and keep our Big S Pass known for its incredible value. As the remainder of the season unfolds, we will continue to assess the quantity and quality of skiing available and let you know in the spring just what we can do for credits or discounts off of future pass purchases.
In the meantime, if you have the opportunity to travel south or north of the state, we highly recommend you take advantage of some of the offers we have been able to put together specially for Big S Pass holders. For example, your Big S Pass is honored seven days a week for the rest of the season at both Northstar-at-Tahoe, and Sierra-at-Tahoe. Special lodging deals are also available. We've heard from a number of folks who've already made the trip south and had a fantastic time in all that snow that missed us earlier in the month. Once again, we appreciate immensely the huge support, patience, and overall positive energy so many of you have shown in the past several weeks. We look forward to nothing more than seeing you again on the slopes soon.
