The pass is closed today due to adverse road conditions. Freezing rain fell overnight and left a layer of ice over everything.

...AN ICE STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED AN ICE STORM WARNING FOR THE PASSES OF THE CENTRAL WASHINGTON CASCADES IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING.

RAIN WILL FREEZE QUICKLY TO ICE IN SNOQUALMIE AND STEVENS PASSES TODAY...CREATING HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ON THE HIGHWAYS.

RAIN FALLING INTO SUB-FREEZING AIR TRAPPED IN THE CASCADES PASSES WILL FREEZE ON CONTACT WITH ROADS AND CARS...AND LOCAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF MORE THAN AN INCH ARE POSSIBLE.

IF YOU PLAN TO TRAVEL ACROSS THE CASCADES TODAY...CHECK AHEAD FOR ROAD CONDITIONS AND POSSIBLE CLOSURES AND USE EXTREME CAUTION.
